Steps for Pets is a family-friendly fundraiser walk taking place on Saturday, June 13, 2026. This special event supports local charities that provide essential care and services for animals.
In this pilot year, Steps for Pets is a moment to gather together in Ontario to bring pets and people together – while raising funds for organizations dedicated to caring for animals and helping them find their forever homes.
Registered participants may solicit online credit card/paypal donations through their SFP Fundhub page.
Cheque donations made payable to Steps for Pets can be forwarded to:
Steps for Pets c/o Blue Sea Foundation, 240 Duke St. West, Kitchener, ON, N2H 5C1
Cash donations should be paid by the participant in Fundhub where donors will be emailed a tax receipt for amounts $20+ immediately once paid.
There is no registration fee to participate in Steps for Pets, but we encourage all participants to fundraise. As a goal, most walkers raise around $250, sometimes much more!
When you step up and raise $150+ ($75+ if you’re under the age of majority), we’ll recognize your efforts on event day with our 2026 SFP bandana – perfect for humans and animals alike.
If you plan to bring your dog to the event, please review the following guidelines to help ensure a safe experience for everyone:

Do not leave dogs unattended in vehicles. If attending with someone, have them remain outside with your dog while you check in. An outdoor registration option will be available for participants attending alone with a dog.
Leashes
Dogs must remain on a non-retractable leash no longer than 4 feet and wear a properly fitted collar or harness at all times.
Temperament

Health
Dogs must be healthy and symptom-free for at least 7 days prior to the event (no coughing, diarrhea, lethargy, eye discharge, fever, or reduced appetite).
Vaccinations & ID
All dogs should be up to date on vaccinations and wear identification tags with current contact information.
Hydration & Weather
Bring water for your dog and monitor them closely in warm weather. Water stations will be available along the route.

Participants are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and disposing of waste properly.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep Steps for Pets safe and enjoyable for all participants.
